Cookies & tracking

Browser storage on Graytower’s own site and how the optional customer Website tracker differs.

Effective and last updated: September 25, 2026

On Graytower’s own site and app

The public pages do not install the Graytower customer Website tracker. The signed-in app uses authentication and security cookies to keep your account session working. The app can also remember interface preferences in browser storage. We do not use an advertising cookie on these pages in the current implementation.

Cookie names for authentication can vary with deployment and security settings. Essential session cookies are required to sign in. You can clear browser cookies and local storage in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.

On a customer Website

A customer may install one of two Graytower scripts. The default script sets the first-party _gt_id cookie for up to one year and can use browser storage for session continuity. Experiment participation can use a separate _gt_exp cookie for up to 90 days. The cookieless script does not set a persistent Graytower visitor cookie; when loaded it removes existing Graytower visitor and experiment cookies and prior tracker session storage. It still sends pageview and event requests to Graytower, where short-lived pseudonymous measurement is performed.

The customer decides whether to install either script, what custom events and identity values to send, and how to provide required notice, consent, or other choice. If your question is about tracking on a particular Website, consult that Website’s own notice. For integration details, read Identity and cookies and Cookieless tracking.

Your controls

You can block or remove cookies through your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in. A customer Website may offer its own tracking controls. Cookieless mode is a technical setting, not a guarantee that consent or notice is unnecessary in every jurisdiction.
